Process of processing cassava into flour
Cassava is one of the most important cash crops in Nigeria. Cassava is grown in almost all the states in Nigeria and Nigeria has been rated the highest producer of cassava in the world. Fresh cassava root is the only raw material for production of Cassava Flour.
The process of processing Cassava into flour is different with the process of processing cassava into starch. The cassava flour is produce from the whole peeled cassava roots .
The industrial process of processing cassava into flour is mainly include 6 steps as below :
1.Cassava cleaning and washing
This process will remove the impurity among the cassava roots and wash away the sand and dirty on the surface of cassava roots .
2.Cassava peeling and washing
Peel the cassava totally and washing away the peel and dirty .
3.Cassava wet milling
The peeled cassava roots will be milled to cassava mash.
4.Cassava mash pressing dewatering
The moisture content of the mash is reduced mechanically to about 50% by pressing machine to prepare for drying operation.
5.Pressed cassava cake breaking
The resultant cake from dewatering process is disintegrated into fine granules using hammer mill.
